This story is a dog… or should I say it is about a dog named Kramer, and an owner’s love and devotion to Seinfeld.
Meagen-Marie Joyce, who lives in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, became the owner of a golden lab named Kramer just three years ago. Named after the well-known Seinfeld character, like most dogs Kramer also goes by other names.
“We also call him ‘Hey Buddy’ so often that I’m sure he thinks his name is buddy as well,” Meagen-Marie said. For those that are Seinfeld fans, you might recognize “hey buddy” as an oft-used greeting by the character Kramer, most notably in the episode where Newman envisions Kramer as a roasted turkey. (S09E01 – The Butter Shave).
Of course, Meagen-Marie, being a Seinfeld fan, couldn’t pass up the opportunity of having her beloved pet immortalized in a painting. And why not do it in the style of “The Kramer”, a well-known portrait of the Seinfeld character Kramer from episode “The Letter” (S03E21)?
“Yes, we did pay someone to paint his version of ‘The Kramer’ that hangs in our living room. When your dog is named Cosmo Kramer, you just have to,” she explained. “We found an artist on Etsy who did paintings of animals on human bodies and sent him pictures of ‘The Kramer’ and our Kramer, and spent an embarrassing amount of money on the picture and then having it framed… but it’s seriously an amazing painting!”
Being a Kramer, we just know he is a big fan of Festivus. “My dog Kramer loves to celebrate Festivus!” Meagen-Marie confirmed. She’s right! Just check out the photos below.
I wonder if this qualifies as a Festivus Miracle?
That painting looks great, but I’ll bet it cost a fortune. You probably could’ve done something with photoshop that would have been a lot cheaper, though probably not look nearly as good. I also had a dog named Kramer, a dalmatian who was a rescue so we didn’t name him but it was obvious why he was given that name; he’d always run into the room too excited and crash into things!
I love this. We too had a Cosmo Kramer. He sadly passed. I love your immortalization of your dog.
