With just one week to go until December 23rd, we are looking for folks who are ready for Festivus.
Many people often wonder how the official date for Festivus was derived. The date was first revealed in the Seinfeld episode “The Strike”. In a bagel shop scene, after Kramer learns about Festivus, he approaches his boss and asks for a day off for the purpose of celebrating the holiday.
Kramer: Listen Harry, I need the 23rd off.
Harry: Hey! I hired you to work during the holidays. This is the holidays.
Kramer: But it’s Festivus!
This was the moment the date for the Seinfeld Festivus was established.
Dan O’Keefe, the main writer of the episode “The Strike”, has said the date was chosen at random. That date is certainly less random now that it has been known as Festivus for 26 years… ever since December 18, 1997, the date the Seinfeld episode first aired.
So, who is ready for Festivus?
Have an Acceptable Festivus
Joseph Wotten wishes everyone an acceptable Festivus. Joseph is ready! He has erected his Festivus pole and has more than one binder containing his “2023 Grievances” ready to be aired.
Festivus for the rest of us
It was a Major Award
Via Twitter, Bill Gobble has erected his pole and it’s a high strength-to-weight baby. Notice the family pooch is resting nearby, along with a “leg lamp” obviously received as a major award for some prestigious contest. Happy Festivus!
Stack those cans!
Via Twitter, @toomuchcountry reports the Schaefer Beer Festivus Pole is on full and extended display at Hop House in Franklin Tennessee. They made it look easy. Just empty a bunch of aluminum cans and stack them up!

Do they think the Festivus holiday is a little crazy? Maybe. Do they think this video is a little silly (and cheesy)? Hmmm, perhaps. Do they still love Festivus? You be the judge. Check it out.
Yes! We are celebrating Festivus this year by playing pool in my basement, on a table that is in a room too small for good game play. Fun!
