There is no doubt that Festivus marks the beginning of the end of 2020. Having 2020 going bye-bye has to be the best news ever, and we all have a genuine hope that 2021 is destined to be a huge improvement.
Grievances-a-plenty
In the true spirit of Costanza’s day for the rest of us, many Festivus-ites have made the pilgrimage to our Airing of Grievances page to register their complaints. Some of the gripes we have collected so far:
- Cardboard cutouts at games and crowd noise piped in. Gag.
- I still don’t understand how my name is not memorable to you. It rhymes with a female body part!
- I’m having a real problem with the price of batteries. I may start stealing them.
- My mother in law hates me and she won’t tell it to my face LOL.
There are plenty more epic gripes registered. Check it out if you are interested to see what’s bugging people. If you haven’t had the chance to express your discontent, the online form is open just for you.
Festivus pole: That’s how it’s done!
Jolly Ashley shared her unadorned Festivus pole accompanied by a “replica” Puffy Shirt. I was not aware there was such a thing as a replica puffy shirt, but I guess if you wanted to dress up your replica Jerry Seinfeld doll it might come in handy. Thanks for Sharing!
A Festivus Elf on the Shelf
Jess Maynard Shaw has shared a photo of her family’s Elf on the Shelf who has taken up the cheer for a Happy Festivus. Glad to see an elf switching teams. It’s a Festivus Miracle!
A Happy Festivus from ‘Science’
Danny Sullivan wishes everyone a very merry Festivus from the University of California-San Francisco Department of Pathology. The pole might look small (that’s what she said), but we think that it’s possible that the microscope is huge.
That’s right, it’s lit
Joseph Vincze shared his pole, and you can see that it is unconventionally lit up with lights. Certainly, this must be to attract the attention of the neighbors, just to let them know that there has to be another way. Happy Festivus Joseph!
A winter holiday song for the rest of us
Sam Chess, a NYC based jazz musician, and lifelong Seinfeld fan has just released a large scale, orchestral, 1950’s pop-Christmas style song. Sam wrote the song, recorded it, and animated a wonderful video as an accompaniment.
We love it! Sing along, as it’s the perfect way to greet Festivus in 2020. Another Festivus miracle!
Festivus (For The Rest Of Us)
–sung by Robbie Lee–
–written/animated by Sam Chess–
Jasper Dutz (woodwinds), Jeremiah Blacklow (violins), Sam Chess (trombones), Chris Gelb (drums/sleigh bell), Abraham Pollack (bass)
LYRICS:
The mistletoe’s danglin’, there’s jinglin and there’s janglin’
But it all feels like bullsh*t to me
We buy all these presents but still we’re just peasants
To the ones at the top of the tree
Rudolph and Nat Cole get shoved up your a**hole
As soon as it’s not Halloween
We’ll stampede a Sears to buy toys made with tears
By a kid who’s not even thirteen
Twelve days of Christmas was not enough business
This snowball gets bigger each year
Let’s stop the consumption and corporate seduction
And rethink the way we spread cheer
Just let me explain, my dear:
Well there’s Festivus, for the rest of us
We’re all through with the toys and the prayer
So the rest of us, we’re fed up with this
We rejoice on this day with no flair
We’ll sit round the pole airing grievances,
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with you
There’s no need to bicker or argue at length
You’ll get your chance in the feats of strength
So on Festivus be adventurous
Join the rest of us, the very best of us this year
We’ll sit round the pole airing grievances,
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with you
There’s no need to bicker or argue at length
You’ll get your chance in the feats of strength
So on Festivus, self-reflect with us
Join the rest of us on Festivus this year!
There’s so much restlessness without precedence
So let’s put emphasis on this genesis
They’ll call us treacherous, they’ll doubt our relevance
Try to discredit us, or even threaten us
So don’t you pester us with your pestilence
Be adventurous, join the exodus
With the rest of us on Festivus this year
Join the rest of us on Festivus this year!
