With just one week to go until December 23rd, we are looking for folks who are ready for Festivus.<\/p>\n

Many people often wonder how the official date for Festivus<\/a> was derived.\u00a0The date was first revealed in the Seinfeld<\/em>\u00a0episode \u201cThe Strike<\/a>\u201d. In a bagel shop scene, after Kramer learns about Festivus, he approaches his boss and asks for a day off for the purpose of celebrating the holiday.<\/p>\n

Kramer<\/strong>: Listen Harry, I need the 23rd off<\/strong>.
\nHarry<\/strong>: Hey! I hired you to work during the holidays. This is the holidays.
\nKramer<\/strong>: But it’s Festivus!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This was the moment the date for the Seinfeld Festivus was established.<\/p>\n

Dan O’Keefe, the main writer of the episode \u201cThe Strike<\/a>\u201d, has said the date was chosen at random. That date is certainly less random now that it has been known as Festivus for 26 years… ever since December 18, 1997, the date the Seinfeld<\/em> episode first aired.<\/p>
