{"id":1203,"date":"2022-12-23T21:37:26","date_gmt":"2022-12-24T03:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/festivusweb.com\/blog\/?p=1203"},"modified":"2022-12-23T21:46:01","modified_gmt":"2022-12-24T03:46:01","slug":"the-25th-anniversary-of-festivus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/festivusweb.com\/blog\/the-25th-anniversary-of-festivus\/","title":{"rendered":"The 25th Anniversary of Festivus"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- Added by Post\/Page Specific Custom Code plugin, thank you for using! -->\n<style>#eino-header-image {display:none;}<\/style>\n<p>Somewhat obscured by the frivolity and humor of another Festivus was the fact this year marked a quarter-century since the Seinfeld episode &#8220;The Strike&#8221; first aired on December 18, 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-five years later and people are still watching that episode and celebrating a made up holiday brought to the world via Seinfeld writer Dan O&#8217;Keefe, and aided by writers Alec Berg and Jeff Schaffer, not to mention actor Jerry Stiller and the other Seinfeld cast.<\/p>\n<p>Will Festivus be celebrated in another twenty-five years? Probably, especially since it doesn&#8217;t show any signs of stopping. In fact, Festivus itself made it through the pandemic years and has instead become more main-stream in our society. Ten to fifteen years ago you&#8217;d have to explain Festivus to people, but not anymore it seems. A majority of people have heard about the holiday and are aware of its origins.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a Festivus Miracle!<\/p><div class=\"festi-after-4-paragraphs\" id=\"festi-2708496957\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- FestivusWeb Responsive -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3297689279938125\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3697394480\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at how some folks celebrated Festivus in 2022,\u00a0 on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the holiday.<\/p>\n<h2>Get a Grip<\/h2>\n<p>Michael Burns, the former grip on the set of &#8220;The Strike,&#8221; was the person that mounted Frank Costanza&#8217;s Festivus pole to the floor of the set when the Festivus dinner scene was filmed. <a href=\"https:\/\/festivusweb.com\/blog\/festivus-podcast-episode-3-michael-burns-and-the-story-of-the-first-festivus-pole\/\">In a podcast interview a few years ago,<\/a> Michael also explained how he thought the bed of lettuce beneath Estelle Costanza&#8217;s meatloaf was possibly done for camera contrast. Twenty-five years later he is sharing a Festivus meatloaf dinner with his mom. Happy Festivus!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Mr. Blue needs a forever home<\/h2>\n<p>Cherie Flett Collins reported the pole was up and their Festivus was being celebrated with a foster dog, Mr. Blue from <a href=\"https:\/\/texascattledogrescue.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas Cattle Dog Rescue<\/a>. Mr. Blue has no grievances to air. There is plenty of feedback about this inflatable, mostly around how it looks like something else.
