If you didn’t already know there exists a modest selection of Festivus songs. Of course, the traditional Seinfeld Festivus did not include any songs. Still, you can’t stop some folks from wanting to sing.
Most Festivus songs stay true to the humor of the holiday. Four years ago, FestivusWeb.com posted Festivus-based lyrics to a few of the holiday favorites. You and the family can now sing these songs around the Festivus Pole, or at the dinner table, or serenade the Feats of Strength loser while they are at the hospital emergency room.
If you have grown weary of the old holiday music, then check out Joel Kopischke, a Milwaukee native, who has a whole repertoire of humorous holiday music, including a pair of songs about our favorite holiday, Festivus. When I first heard “O Festivus” it moved me. In fact, it made me stand at attention. His second song below, “The Festivus Bunch” is an upbeat send-up to “The Brady Bunch” theme song.
O FESTIVUS!
O Festivus!
Your praises now we sing,
For the rest of us,
there will be no re-gifting
Thy shining pole of aluminum
Completely tinsel-free
We air grievances,
Oh Festivus,
can you spare a square for me?
Thy feats of strength,
are must see TV
Frank Costanza,
we’ll pin you first, you’ll see
Oh Festivus,
you are sponge worthy

THE FESTIVUS BUNCH
Here’s the story of Dan O’Keefe
Who in the 60s created Festivus
With the airing of grievances, and feats of strength
It’s for the rest of us
Here’s the story of Dan’s son Daniel
Who was writing for the Seinfeld TV show
He wrote Festivus into an episode
Adding an aluminum pole
Then this one day when the show was on the TV
And they saw it caused so much of a fuss
Yes it was a Festivus miracle
That’s the way we all came to know Festivus
Yes Festivus, Oh Festivus
That’s the way we all now know Festivus
Sung to the tune of “the Brady Bunch” theme song.
