I celebrate festivus in the first week of summer. Invitations are called "Festivites". Attendees are known as "Festivees" and are not allowed to celebrate Christmas. We have a white tree on a green lawn. Rather than airing of Grievances, we have open re-gifting. (Take ur crappiest christmas present and give to another festivee). We promote alcohol use(uh-oh). We also have ornament smashing. We have story telling and the one with the saddest Christmas story gets to light the tree on fire.
We have celebrated Festivus for 6 years now, and it has grown to an event of almost 20 people. Along with the regular traditions, the original five members who celebrated the very first Festivus (now know as the Wise Men) spend Festivus Eve (Dec 22nd) at a bar together in what is called the 'Night of Silent Contemplation'. We five will go to our favourite bar and not speak one word to one another throughout the whole evening - derived in order to prepare for the airing of grievances.

Happy Festivus everyone. And now for my grievance: I am unhappy that there are never any new Seinfeld episodes. I don't see why the cast can't get together and make a new show once in awhile just for our pleasure. Harumph. And now for a Festivus compliment: Jerry Stiller as Frank Costanza is quite possibly the funniest TV character ever. The man is a truly hilarious comedian and Festivus should be celebrated in his honor forever!

11 years ago, I met my wife at a Festivus party here at a local tavern. We find the airing of grievances key to a happy marriage!

Happy Festivus to all!
My family and I celebrated Festivus at the airport with an imaginary aluminum pole and aired our grievances.
