The Festivus Podcast Episode 5 – An Interview with Dan O’Keefe

Listen on Anchor

In this podcast we go to Los Angeles, California and speak with television writer and producer Dan O’Keefe, the person who brought Festivus to our television screens by including it in the Seinfeld episode “The Strike”.  Festivus was originally conceived by Dan’s father, Daniel O’Keefe Senior, who was an editor at Reader’s Digest. In his own prolific way, Mr. O’Keefe invented Festivus, a strange holiday known only to his wife Deborah, and his three sons, Dan, Larry and Mark… until a altered version of the holiday was written into an episode of Seinfeld.

Thanks for doing this interview with Dan! I recently embraced the fun of Festivus. I like how it’s pretty much a freeform kinda thing. One hospital had a party where the Feats Of Strength was Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, and the Airing Of Grievances was a suggestion box. <3 <3
